Price rise continues in chemical products including methanol this early August

Today (on August 15), the market price of 50 important production materials from 9 major categories in the field of circulation of 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) is monitored according to the Changes in Market Price of Important Production Materials in Circulation Domain from August 1 to 10 in 2016 issued by the National Bureau of Statistics, through which it can be seen that the price of 30 kinds of materials in early August is increased, with decreasing price for 15 materials and equal price for 5 materials when compared with that in late July.
Chemicals: prompting upward
From August 1 to 10, the price of 6 products, including methanol and PVC, which are included in 10 chemicals monitored, is increased; with respect to the pure benzene, styrene and PFY, the price is decreased slightly.

In the data monitoring stage, the international oil price shocks weakly, which brings negative impacts on chemicals, but the price of some products is increased by benefiting from demand and supply support. Since the supply and demand support will continue to exist, it is predicted that the price of most petrochemicals will mainly be adjusted narrowly in a short term period.
Methanol: recovering slightly
According to the data of NBS, the price of methanol (excellent grade) from August 1 to 10 is closed at CNY 1724.6/ton, which is increased to CNY 19.7/ton compared with last period (July 21 to 30), with an increasing rate of 1.2%.
Recent Changes in Market Prices of Methanol (Excellent Grade)
In late July, the market demand of methanol (excellent grade) was reduced. Under the pressure of large stocking, the price was reduced to CNY 1704.9/ton from CNY 1780.9/ton in early July. On August 1, the price of methanol is increased again for stopping of some methanol units, but the increasing of the methanol may be obstructed in a short term period due to middle downstream demands.
Styrene: shocking downward
The price of styrene (first grade) from August 1 to 10 is closed at CNY 8080.6/ton, which is decreased to CNY 160.8/ton compared with last period (July 21 to 30), with an decreasing rate of 2%.
Recent Changes in Market Prices of Styrene (First Grade)
Mainly due to continuous falling price of crude oil and stop out, the price of styrene (excellent grade) has been decreased from July. Considering the XD EPS device restart stimulus and other factors, the market price may be rebounded slightly, but the market will seek for development direction in the process of narrow price adjustment if there is no drastic price fluctuation in the external environment.
