Chemical industry operation in July: growth rate drops by 0.5%

In July, the added value of the chemical industry is increased by 8.8%, while the growth rate is decreased by 0.5%. In the main chemicals, the producing capacity of ethylene is increased by 0.3%, with the producing capacity of plastics in primary form, synthetic rubber and synthetic fiber increased by 8.2%, 20.1% and 11.3% respectively; the producing capacity of caustic soda is increased by 8.7% and that of the sodium carbonate is decreased by 1.2%; the producing capacity of chemical fertilizer is decreased by 4.8%, in which the capacities of nitrogenous fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and potash fertilizer are decreased by 3.5%, 3.1% and 7.8% separately, having the capacity of pesticide increased by 1.3%, and 10.6% for rubber tire casing and 6.8% for calcium carbide. 

From January to July, the added value of the chemical industry is increased by 9.1%, while the growth rate is decreased by 0.3%. In the main products, the capacities of ethylene, plastics in primary form, synthetic rubber and synthetic fiber are 10.66 million tons, 46.88 million tons, 3.04 million tons and 26.45 million tons respectively, with separate increasing rates of 7.6%, 8.4%, 6.4% and 8.6%. The capacities of caustic soda and sodium carbonate are 18.82 million tons and 14.76 million tons, with the increasing rates of 5.8% and 0.6%. The capacity of the chemical fertilizer is 43.1 million tons, with an increasing rate of 1.1%, in which the capacities of nitrogenous fertilizer and potash fertilizer are increased by 2.4% and 5.6% respectively and that of phosphate fertilizer is decreased by 0.9%. The capacity of pesticide is 2.2 million tons, with an increasing rate of 2.9%. The capacity of rubber tire casing is 539.89 million, with an increasing rate of 9.3%, and that of the calcium carbide is 14.7 million tons, with an increasing rate of 3.1%. 

In the chemicals subject to key monitoring, the price of most products is decreased compared with that of the last month. In July, the average price of caustic soda (caustic soda flakes) is CNY 2140/ton, which is increased by 2.4% compared with the price of last month, and is decreased by 0.5%. The price of sodium carbonate is CNY 1460/ton, which is equal to that of last month and is decreased by 3.3%. The price of urea is CNY 1250/ton, which is decreased by 0.8% compared with the price of last month and is decreased 28.2%, and CNY 2600/ton for diammonium phosphate made in China, which is decreased by 3.7% compared with the price of last month and is decreased by 12.8%, then CNY 2130/ton for calcium carbide, which is decreased by 5.3% compared with the price of last month and is decreased by 4.5%.
